Not knowing how many notes or silver coins there are, and also not knowing what dates are in there. Could be a huge ripoff or a steal. It would be awesome to search that lot though!!

The face value of the coins/notes would be close to the $22k I reckon.
The seller seems to know a bit about what they have and no one in their right mind would sell it all at once like that. Anyone who purchased it would be equally crazy or possibly more so. I would say the buyer (if he gets one; doubtful) will get (insert your word of choice)ed!

If I was a serious player for this lot, I'd be on a plane to Hollywood to go through it, then make an offer. I seriously doubt someone would sell 50,000 face value for 25K. I'm not sure why he refers to the CSA notes as US notes.
That's a big lot of stuff. How many pounds of worthless foreign coins? Where are the gold coins? Lots of unanswered questions.

I agree w/ all the above. The smell of trouble is thick in the air & the red flags are all over the place. WAY too many warning signs. This thing has the smell & the feel of one of those "games of chance" on a carny midway at a flea-bitten county fair...

I've seen similar hoards for sale on ebay with the same sort of photographic "tricks": * Stacks of bills with a large denomination bill on top (implying you are getting a stack of large denomination bills) * Zoomed out pictures showing tons of coins, but close inspection indicates that many of the coins are foreign and worth little. Sure, there's a lot of value there, so it's not a complete scam. But probably nowhere near the asking price. |

It could be legit, but  with what has been posted. I had a friend (many years ago) who would carry a huge stack of singles in his pocket to give the appearance of a large wad. But his bank roll contained about 97 dollars. And I'm sure most, if not all of you had seen or heard of the guy who sandwiches 100+ one dollar notes with a 100 dollar note on the top and the bottom of the stack. Looks impressive but the holder never seems to shave any bills off the pile. |

I'm gonna email the guy and see what comes out of it. I would love to take a gamble on it but only if I could travel there and look with my own 2 eyes . He seems to know a little to much about it to be selling it in bulk the way he is doing but then again maybe he just wants out, who knows. Though I don't have the funds now I'm sure I could get the money somewhere. It would be fun to wait till Jan 1st and then starting piecing it out individually on ebay. I'll let you guys know how it turns out though I don't think it will go anywhere. |

He lives close enough for me to check it out but I'm not going to. If he cut the price in half i'd go for it, hehehe.
He does seems to know a lot. I'm sure the stacks were searched and sold high value coins already. So now he's probably trying to make extra money off of common stuff by selling it in a huge collection. I don't know, either way, it would be a cool free gift to receive. lol.
Interested to see what he says to you throwbackid.

Yeah it seems like it would be worth the effort for him to go through and sell the more valuable stuff individually. Although he may just want out and want to get rid of it fast there are much better ways to sell it and get the proper value than just a huge lot at a set price. He has probably been to a dealer and sold the relly valuable stuff already. He is just hoping that somebody will take a chance (all it takes is one person willing to pay that price). Pictures like that just seem like a scam...coins stacked up and spread over a large area with valuable pieces sprinkled in to catch your eye. It would be so fun to go through it, but not worth that risk at that price tag. A true auction would have been really interesting to see where the price went.

I don't have a single note in my collection, but I actually do have the paper money guide book so I could look stuff up. The guy is asking 25,000 for everything. It would appear to me that all the notes pictured alone would exceed that amount. He also does picture a whole lot of other stuff too. It looks like a good deal to me. There is the question of is this stuff fake.
He's from Hollywood, CA. He probably might fall into one of two categories. The kind that has tons of cash already and doesn't care if he sells it for little because he no longer wants the stuff. Or the kind that had tons of cash, but has fallen on hard times...maybe hedge fund guy that just got hit hard, or movie industry guy that spent way too much...he might just need to sell.
It certainly would need to be looked at, but it COULD be legit great deal from what I see. It's about a 5 hour drive for me and one that I don't want to make. If anybody else actually takes a look at it and can confirm that it's a great buy, but doesn't have the capital, post it on the forum. I might be willing to go down and make the purchase and give that individual a somewhat modest finder's fee of sorts.
btw, just to confirm, since I am technically making an offer here. Something like "well I looked at it and it's alright, you might be able to get 28000 out of it" doesn't work. All that stuff would take forever to sell and that wouldn't be worth it. If somebody looks at it and tells me there is an easy 40,000 there and probably 50000+, then I'm interested.

The style of presentation is all wrong. The zero ratings thing is a really bad sign.
Using pictures stacks of bills topped w/ $100, $500 & $1,000 bills is just plain seedy, & using photos of the same 2 stacks of bills (the ones topped off w/ the $500 & the $1,000 bills) half a dozen times is comically blatant. Let's see pix of those stacks all fanned out, so the denomination of every bill is visible, OK?
One piece of text says "All US currency in professional protective holders" and directly above that text is a photo including 2 of those stacks of bills - NOT in holders (the ones topped off with the $500 & $1,000 bill, of course)!! OK -- confirmed self-contradictory untruth #1!
This come-on is slicker than an eel & it appeals very effectively to greed. I don't think it's possible to look at those pictures without getting your juices running.... BUT....
If this thing was legit, one of the nationally known & respected auction houses would be running the show by auctioning off the high-end pieces individually & the more common pieces in small lots to maximize sales revenue. It wouldn't be handled on an internet grab-bag basis by some unknown party with zero history or references & hiding behind a goofy code name.
If you just have to gamble on something, then buy a Powerball ticket. The odds are probably much more favorable to you and you'll get off a whole lot cheaper.
