The weather here (South East, Virginia) stinks. I hope you guys are dryer.

In the Middle East, Asia and many other places, gold is popular, not in coins but in jewelry. Their jewelry is used like currency but not any jewelry, the high octane stuff. Generally, nothing under 21K but most sacred being 22-24K gold.

It has a look (golden yellow like the sun) and feel like no other material. When you ball up a nice chain and roll it in your palm, it's like mercury. Heavy but fluid.

Occasionally, I've been lucking enough to get some good stuff and some scrap high karat gold. I had more but traded it dollar for dollar towards some US gold coins. I do wear the heavy link chain with the 24K stamp. This chain was made in South Korea and weighs a modest 2.4 ounces of 24K. I wear it under my shirt. I purchased the chain when gold was around 640 dollars. I got a smokin' deal then and it's a fabulous deal in today's market.

Panned gold is great gold. Come to think of it, all gold is good gold.

Just to be on the safe side, you might want to have it tested to make sure it's actually 24K gold. My mother-in-law brought some 24K jewelery with her when she came here from China awhile back and it ended up mostly being heavy gold plate instead of solid gold, despite the fact that it was stamped "24K". Fortunately, she bought it back when gold was under $600 ounce and not at today's prices.

you can go buy 24kt gold jewelry from most asian jewelry stores so throwback see if there is a chinatown or whatnot near you.

Now everyone is cashing it in or stashing it for a rainy day that's what I'm doing with my old gumby gold from when I was younger and all my panned stuff. Is gold nuggets worth more when you can prove that it came from a certain state or area

Some gold nuggets you can sell to collectors rather than as scrap
