Hi everyone! I just got this coin,this is my first ancient coin and perhaps this is my first step to be a collector.it`s weight about 8.7g,size 20mm,silver,can anyone tell me something about this coin? is this a fake? hope for 100 answers.

An Akragas didrachm, looks genuine (and quite nice ) from the photos/weight. You already had some good advices on FORVM regarding this one (classical numismatic is a small world ).

If you bought the coin from FORVM, there really shouldn't be any problem

I see no reason to doubt the coin. It is believable, naturally worn with good surfaces and of good style. This design was made for many years in the 5th century BC. The only weak part of the coin is that the legend is worn making it hard to see whether the R is has the leg or is like the Greek rho (P). Rather few Greek coins show the R looking like an English R but I suspect this one once did. I hope you will enjoy it.
