Thanks, guys.
A little background on the 1907-D Dimes.
I checked the POP reports on this date &
found nothing unusual. AU POP is about what
you'd expect - nothing out of the ordinary.
What is out of the ordinary is the total POP.
This date ranks the LOWEST of all regular issue
Barber dimes [ save for the 1893/"2" overdate ]
and even lower than the 1905-O Micro O !
After a bit of digging, an article in the
Numismatic News many years ago by
ANA President,
Edward Rochette, stated that the rumor of four
wagon loads of newly minted Dimes were lost in
the cliffs of Black Canyon after having left the
Denver Mint. This was reprinted in Volume 2 - Issue 2
of the BCCS Journal.
Dave Lawrence made reference to this in his 1991
Complete Guide to
Barber dimes. No mention of this is
made in Ambio's recent publication, - and Kevin Flynn
as well as Walter Breen made no reference to this rumor.
This AU 58 - 1907-D is actually my 4th - here is another
one that I once owned:
This was in my Dansco Album for over a dozen years:

......and found another coin's old image as well:
also a PCGS 55...and purchased as such:

Lastly, and I have another 1907-D - PCGS 45 - I have set
aside for a cousin's YN who wants my collection "some day"...
