The 25 Days Of Barber Coins!!

They are definitely not as common as they used to be at shows, Elbesaar. I think many were lost in the great silver melt of the late 1970's and to subsequent melting. These coins will only get tougher to collect as time rolls on.
The kingpin of the Barber half date set is a 1915-D. I bought it when I was 16 yrs old from a dealer at an antique show.

1895-S half.

The REV had to have a complete E PLURIBUS UNUM
or I wouldn't consider it. The letters in Liberty
varied - mostly because of strike - but if it had
LIB...TY ... I was just great with that ! I once
bought a Half from a guy in a small antique shop in
Ohio [ can't remember where now ] and he had a bunch
of VF halves marked as VG's. He used Red Book to price
them ... I ended buying every one he had.

I love the 96-O Date - remember - when buying the coin is wonderful and its a great price - when selling - its another story. The reason you "stole it" will be the reason you will not be able to resell it. Buying problem coins is the worst decision you can make. Ok, you want the date - and can afford an AG 3 coin, buy a problem free AG 3 coin.
