Barbers were the workhorses of commerce for their time period. Back then, 50 cents bought you a very fancy dinner or a pair of shoes. Mine bought a LOT of dinners and shoes. Elbesaar Rest in Peace United States 699 Posts	Posted 05/05/2015 10:49 pm My first collection of Barbers, was Half Dollars. I used a Whitman Bookshelf Album. The collection was started my 2nd year in college and back in those days there were more collectors and a small group of us would make it to small towns in Ohio seeking out coin shops. The grade of choice was VG10. It's still a great looking grade. Having put together a few sets over the years, my most recent set of Halves has proven more difficult than previous sets.
