The Barber Coin Collectors' Society is undergoing a changing of the guard.
We have a new President, John Frost.
And we are in transition to a new editor and secretary/treasurer.
I'd like to solicit your help and advice.

Our most critical need is articles for our quarterly journal. I wrote to our current editor,
Eileen Ribar, asking for clarification on this point:
"... would opening the Journal to 'guest' articles be allowed?"

Her reply was in the affirmative:
"To answer your question can a non-member submit articles to the Journal, YES,
anyone can submit a Barber related article, opinion, photo, etc. Length is not important;
subject matter is. So, feel free to solicit material from anyone, anywhere."

So, I am soliciting!

Now I need to know the best way to proceed. I have mentioned the CCF as often as I dare
in the articles that I have written. The 1901-S 'dug' quarter article (DrTones) is due
to appear soon. But there are CCF members who are Barber Collectors who possess knowledge
and talent that would be welcome.

Writing talent is not a prerequisite as I could proof read and offer suggestions and corrections.
There exists among our members an enthusiasm that would be especially welcome.
Such a collaboration between the best Internet coin site and
an established traditional print-based coin group would benefit both.

MeadowviewCollector's story, Glimpse Inside the Mint, has already been sent to Eileen:

Acknowledgements and photo credits will be given.

Yours sincerely,

thanks, JBuck for the nice comments....

Guess no one else is collecting Barbers lately ?

A good friend is assembling a world class set of Barbers and currently is upgrading any coin under MS 65. I have had the pleasure to work with him and preview his newps.

His last two additions from the Lily Nichole Collection:

This is a POP ONE - POP TOP

I can't compete with these Gems - my grade of choice is still AU !!

Mighty nice for an AU 53 if I do say so myself. This coin and the next two Barber dimes were once in my Dansco Album.

The coins were in a bank vault in SW Fla for 16 yrs and the heat and humidity caused the sulfur in the pages to react with the silver.

I guess not. I am pleased you are managing to keep this one alive.

I would assume condition does not matter here, correct?
I have a G-VG date set of Barber halves and will start posting them if anyone wants to see them.
Also, have circulated date sets of the quarters and dimes.

I'd like to see them.
I remember an article in the BCCS Journal from a member who had completed
a set of halves in good condition. It is not easy to find nice halves in good.
Post away!

1892-P half.

Probably a little more AG-03, but good honest wear.
