Have not been on line too much as of late.
Over Thanksgiving, I had a friend visit and he imaged
all the Dimes and Quarters that I had no images of.
He imaged 105 coins... Posting them will be a monumental task.
I will try and post a few every so often. I am waiting for the CD;
once received, expect a great slide show.
I have been assisting a good friend with his collection. It's been my
priveledge to assist him. His collection is either # 1 or # 2 in every
category.
We're reviewing each series and deciding what gets sent into the
TPG for a possible upgrade, and what should go to CAC for a bean. This is
not as easy as it sounds.
Last month, I acted as his agent in bidding on the Simpson Dime auction
in Las Vegas. I bid on 10 coins, and won six of them. The "jewel in the
Crown" was the one he was missing, the 1903-S. He now owns the date
in PCGS 67 ( pop top / pop one ) . The other dates were either tied for the
finest known or close to it .
I have been locating a wide variety coins for him, and he is only interested
in Superb Gems.... So, it's been fun handling such high caliber coins.
I'm also putting together a Fine - Extra Fine set of Quarters for his Son.
I picked up a great looking 1913-S in Fine 12 in a PCGS holder last month.
While at FUN last week, I picked up a very choice 1896-S VF 25. He has a
1901-S in PCGS 40 already.
I missed the BCCS meeting last Friday, as I had other obligations.
FUN was busier than I thought it would be. Listening to all the "Nay
Sayers" I expected the floor to be slow. I found the opposite. It was
busy on Thursday and Friday morning.
The Heritage auction was packed with great material. I won two
upgrades for my Quarter set. I found three more upgrades on the
bourse floor. So, although I did not find a date I was missing, I did
land five AU 58's to upgrade my set.
Will post images once I am off of the IPad.
Congrats to DrTomes on getting the 01-S Half into a Genuine holder.
I'll check Great Collections and see how you fare !!
