Nice reverse, 'IOVI' represents Jupiter (king of the gods and the god of sky and thunder) Windchild, I'm guessing the bird is Victory?

Quote: I'm guessing the bird is Victory? Just checked it out, below seems to be the accepted description. Quote: IOVI VICTORI; Jupiter standing left holding Victory & scepter. Eagle at foot.

Ed has gotten me hooked on Carus and family coins. I very short lived dynasty but they issued a large number of coins.

Thanks!
I had guessed Jupiter... But wasn't sure.. The funny thing is I did get the Nike (Victory) part... But that is what confused me! (Athena is normally associated with Nike)

I've just sold a Carinus as Caesar and a Carus but still have a couple more and a Numerian. They are an interesting bunch.
So many of the radiates and their Emperors have great stories behind them but they are often forgotten as the better known, older Emperors get most of the limelight, shame, they are worth reading about and good coins of them can be picked up without spending too much money.
I'm not a big fan of 50 and 100 dollar coins sitting in my drawers so always seem to come back to these, for some reason I seem to identify with them much more than the older coins also.
