Very pretty! One of the engravers of this note was a young Robert Scot, who was a banknote engraver before settling in Philadelphia and eventually becoming the first Chief Engraver of the US Mint in 1793. He was responsible for the Flowing Hair and Draped Bust coinage, among others, and ruthlessly held onto his job until death in 1823, by accounts, by sabotaging the careers of any superior artists who threatened his position.

Thank you all for posting your beautiful notes.
It does give me another thing to keep a eye out for.
Are there many notes like these out there?
In the Washington Bio I am currently reading, there was mentioned .. in the early 1770's there was a group counterfeiting Virginia notes and were tracked down to Pennsylvania .. ever hear of counterfeit notes from that period?

Many contemporary counterfeit colonial notes! They're collected right alongside the originals, and are known by certain design findings. Some short-run state issues of currency have no known originals left that exist in collections today; only some counterfeits remain to show us what the genuine notes looked like!

Bought this about two weeks ago - just got it yesterday, so a nice Christmas gift to myself I suppose. Massachusetts Bay Colonial issue of 20 Spanish Milled Dollars.

Great note! The "Interest Paid One Year" cancellation is a fun touch. Massachusetts currency, sure, but printed in... Philadelphia!

"Great note! The "Interest Paid One Year" cancellation is a fun touch. Massachusetts currency, sure, but printed in... Philadelphia!" Yeah, plus the engraver served time in jail for attempted counterfeiting! The history in these notes is great! http://www.banknoteden.com/Massachu...ony_USA.html

That's some fun facts about Dawkins! Colonial coin engravers also worked on both sides of the law, notably Abel Buell of the Fugios.
