chzman is probably right but I'd need to see the other side.

If the other side is normal it is possible that the weak 4 is the result of uneven pressure due to a slight misalignment or as he wrote, a grease-filled die.

Whatever it is...I'd keep it. It's kind of interesting but it is not likely to have any value over face. I like finding those kind of coins...but I don't buy them. Go figure.

I think that the O.C. is what caused the lesser detail.

thanks for the helps guys!

I think MAD Struck Through Grease is probably what happened. The obverse of the dime has the same "ghost" effect on the letters at the top. Kinda cool, i'll keep this one
