I'm not usually a fan of toned coins, but this one is absolutely gorgeous. Natural, artificial, it's still a beauty. Thanks for sharing.

Wow. Gorgeous coin. Love the toning. Not sure the toning is artificial, more like unintentional? Like it was just put in an envelope into a safe or something. Thanks for sharing! ...and

Beautiful coin, thanks for sharing. I would consider a crossover to NGC to get a numeric grade such as PR55 Details. I believe NGC will acccept your coin in the PCGS slab. Who knows, maybe they will say natural color and give you a problem-free slab. Good luck!

I cannot resist the temptation: http://lsccweb.org/SilverGoldMedal.phpI will be ordering the gold. I joined just for the opportunity to do so. Thomas, you can, even as a non-member, order a silver one. I am certain that our group would love to assist you with your "problem!" Do not do anything except to bask in the AWE of us CCF members. For the time being, at least.

I have been assisted on this site by some really helpful people and really appreciate it. I donated to the forum this morning to try to say thanks in some way. I still don't know what I will do with this coin. My goal in having it graded by PCGS was to make it much easier for it to be sold by me or my estate. That did not happen.I would like to see it get in the hands of a real collector, but would like to know its real grade.

Thomas, thank you for supporting the forum. Unfortunately I would have to take an opposite stand on the ability to sell the coin. The biggest issues seen from a buyers point of view are ROUGHLY in this order: 1. Authenticity 2. Damage 3. Grade 4. Surfaces 1. Your coin is authentic. - GREAT! 2. It is not damaged with a hole in it or cleaned with a brillo pad - GREAT! 3. Although it does not have a numeric grade given to it, it is deffinatly high grade - GREAT! 4. It has attractive surfaces, but their origins are under scrutiny. - Great / not so great. Having the TPG weigh in on point #1 is paramount to the ability to sell the coin and that has been taken care of by PCGS. As stated elsewhere another TPG might take a different stand on the issue of the sufaces and give it a good grade. With the ammount of money on the line, I'd go that route if you have the cash to invest in another TPG's services. Again, thank you for sharing the coin! There are lots of experiences of folks on here that have fought with a TPG over a coin and have come out the winner. (Example: 1977d silver half https://goccf.com/t/75353)

Wow, that is an amazing looking coin! I here what Dave is saying about authenticity, but I dont think it is too often that one top TPG will certify a coin as authentic and the other one would call it fake? You can always just leave it in the slab, send it to NGC with a minimum grade in mind, and ask them to transfer it over if it meets that standard. If not, it will just stay in the PCGS slab. If it is AU, it is very high AU imo. I don't really see any wear. I still maintain that you should get another TPG opinion before selling it....or at least I would in a case like this. A coin like that in a problem free slab I'd think would make a huge difference.

Thomas, I meant assistance by the Seated Liberty people. They are BETTER than the TPG. ANY TPG! They are specialists, unlike the TPG, and they KNOW their stuff. I do not have much pull, yet, but I'll do some investigation if you like. In any event, a nice photo would be welcome in our online Journal. If you do not need to sell in a hurry, let us all help you. Matthew
