I dont have the standard catalog of world coins, and I want to buy one that include coins minted from 1800 to 1900 and from 1900 to 2000. I've never seen this catalog before so I realy dont know the contents (meaning is it only pictures of the coin, values or ...?). I am interested mainly in collecting Egyptian coins, the problem is I searched Amazon.com and I found over 70 results for the catalog (different editions, some combining the two periods I need and others not)so I'm completely confused which one should I buy. I need advice, please send a link if possible Thanks

They are issued by century, covering 1601-1700, 1801-1900 for example. At the turn of this century, the new editions added the first few years of the 2000's, to cover 1901-date. A year ago, they reverted to a 1901-2000 edition, and published a smaller book covering 2001-up.
They are huge; 5cm thick, and have hundreds of (small) pictures identifying the coins. Values are listed in various grades, but are only as good as the year the book was printed. Therefore, I should think that values will be understated in some instances. Mintages are also listed for many issues. You will, of course, want the most recent editions; now that this century has been printed on its' own, I would imagine that the 1901-2000 edition will remain without revision for a few years.
Here is the place to start, when seeking a book of any sort:

Hi eg_collector, Re: 2005 Standard Catalogue of World Coins by Krause, Chester, Mishler & Clifford, 1901 to present. I have just bought a 2005 edition of the 1901-2005 book through Abe Books. Cost+postage was A$39.00, good value I thought coming from America. I could'nt see any sense in buying the latest edition forA$150.00 as it is more of a reference book for me, rather than a price guide. I highly recommend Abe Books, they go out of their way with after sales support and any follow up problems. Good luck with youir search. regards,

I searched https://www.abebooks.com as well as Amazon.com and uptill now things are still confusing, prices are so different, there are different authers e.g Colin R., II Bruce for one issue and Chester L. Krause for another. and the books have the same names ? muckeye: I got the idea but if there is no change in the content regarding the coins, and the only change is in their values from one eddition to the newer one . This means that if I found a 2000 edition in good condition and less price than 2005,it will be a good purchase?

Hi Amr, yes, that would be the way to go except the newer the book ,the more years it would cover, up to 2005. I think the Kruise version is the better value, much more info.. When you access the book on Abe Books, the copies available will be listed in order on value, lowest first.. Pick the one you want and follow the prompts. Success and good luck. (the one I bought was an ex library edition but said to be in good condition). regards,Bob.

I agree that abebooks is the place to go. I just bought a 2006 edition for less than $10 including shipping. It hasn't come yet, so we'll see what the condition is.
I alredy have a 1999 edition that I bought in 2002. Most of the coins in that edition stopped at about 1997, so it seemed to be running about 2 years behind.

Hi everyone I still cant buy a standard catalog of world coins 1901-present for two reasons: First, Amazon.com Market place does not cover Egypt. Second, I ordered a 2005 standard catalog of world coins 1901-present from Abebooks.com, they took about two days to validate the credit card then my order status cahnged from "Held for varification" to "ordered" then after another two days it changed to "shipped" with notice that I will receive the items ordered within 30 buisness days. Yesterday, the status changed to "Refunded" and the cause (according to the seller) the item is too large to be sent by airmail. How can the item be shipped and then suddenly they discovered that it is too large to be send by airmail !!!? shouldnt the seller be aware of the item weght and wether it will be sent or not by airmail before he lists it on the internet. He even listed its shipment rates and speeds to Egypt. ? I sent a complaint to Abebooks.com and still waiting for their repply but this is not the issue, the problem is I STILL CANT BUY A COIN CATALOG So I need to know if there is any other place/site I can buy this catalog from other than Abebooks.com or Amazon.com ?

See if you can get help from the publisher at collect.com, I thought I saw that some of these books were available by download and on disk which might be your best bet so you could print them yourself. I'll keep looking to see if I can find that again.

You can purchase a subscription online for the guides over at https://www.numismaster.com . They off it monthly or yearly. A physical copy of the book would get expensive to ship to you.
