HoosierDaddy, nice coins!  What do you mean, "All 3 came from the ground"? I believe coin #1 is: Marcus Aurelius Denarius. AVRELIVS CAESAR AVG PII F COS, head right / HONOS, Honos standing, head left, with branch & cornucopiae. RIC 422 or close Coin #2 is also Marcus Aurelius. I am not easily finding a match on wildwinds, but here is the page so you can look yourself in case I am missing it:) http://wildwinds.com/coins/ric/marc...elius/t.htmlCoin #3 is: Divus Antoninus Pius, RIC III, 429 AR Denarius, After 180, Rome DIVVS-ANTONINVS, Bare head of Antoninus Pius right CONSECRATIO, Eagle standing right, head left I just obtianed this one myself. I believe coin 2 is: RIC 437, Marcus Aurelius, Caesar, Denarius. 146-147 AD. AVRELIVS CAESAR AVG PII F, bare head right / TR POT COS II, Spes advancing right, holding flower & hem of skirt. http://wildwinds.com/coins/ric/marc...ius/RIC_0437[pius].jpg |

Market value is much harder to determine. In the case of coin 2 above, I found one on acsearch.net for sale listed at $100 ( http://www.acsearch.info/record.html?id=397949 ), but condition has to be considered. The coin shown on acsearch looks to be in better condition. I do believe there are others like yours on ac search so I might suggest you check on this web page acsearch.net, and in the search line enter Marcus Aurelius Spes. You can do this for all your coins if you want to get an idea what other similar coins might be garnering. |

I like fly fishing (catch and release mostly, sometimes gotta have one for he frying pan  ). Catching trout is such a thrill! I am pretty sure catching an ancient coin or two from the wild must be quite the rush! Maybe as good as trout fishing or better. Congrats on your catch! One of these days I am going to have to ancient coin fishing! |

Sadly, it would probably cost you just as much to authenticate your coins as they are actually worth (wow, that was a bad sentence!!) In other words => it would cost you $50-$75 "each" to get David Sear to authenticate your coins (so authentication is really only a wise idea if you have quite high-end coins, and/or if you really have a bad feeling about a coin and want an official second opinion) ... NOTE => Hey, I'm not trying to insinuate anything (no, honestly), but I have become a bit leery whenever I hear "my buddy found these coins with his trusty metal detector" ... Ummm however, I do think that your CCF handle is absolutely hilarious, hoosierdaddy (who's your daddy? ... that's awesome)  Edited by stevex6
