This will be hard to photograph with my minimal equipment, so I wont until I have better lighting available.

I have a George Washington dollar coin. It has the requisite edge lettering. The edge also displays irregular cracks running longwise (perpendicular to how reeding would run) all around the coin.

Is this rare or valuable?

It will be hard to assess with minimal information. A pic is a necessity. To me die cracks garnish no extra value other than face. Just my opinion

Interesting. The "cracks" definitely appear to be incuse into the edge of the coin. If the edge die had cracked they would show as raised lines on the edge of the coin. I'm wondering if what you may be seeing is one of the brass layers starting to delaminate away from the copper core due to the pressure of the edge die impressing the lettering.

Yes the cracks are incuse, but they are more in the copper layer. Copper delamination for sure. Worth more than face, anybody think?
