Check out the new 2013 Canadian 1.5oz Silver Polar Bear -- http://www.apmex.com/Product/73373/...ar_Bear.aspx APMEX doesn't have it yet, but Lear Capital has it in stock for $62 (+$45 shipping!). Also listed at Silvergoldbull for $64.86, but doesn't seem to be listed anywhere else yet. Edited by Fat Freddy 11/12/2012 9:15 pm

Very cool. Looking forward to picking one of these up. I wonder what size they will be. The APMEX specs show it as the same diameter and thickness as a Maple, which obviously can't be right.

Lear's $62 price represents a painful $9 per oz premium and their shipping is prohibitive. I'm hoping APMEX comes through with a more bearable total price+shipping cost.

For someone that mainly tries to only get 1 ouncers, that extra half kinda ruins it for me. Think they'll release a 1 ouncer so I can make my wildlife set a bit more awesome?

coin can be bought though a canadian site by the tube. It's not part of the wildlife series minted by the RCM

Just so we're clear though...This coin is a wildlife coin but is not part of the Canadian wildlife series collection of 6 coins. Silvergoldbull has em in stock.

In response to posts thus far and so nobody feels misled, I edited the name of this thread and took out the word "series." RCM is also putting out some low-mintage specials -- a 1oz silver Beaver for $100, a 5oz silver Beaver for $520 and a 1oz platinum Bald Eagle for $3,000. I'm sure they're enjoying their profit margin on these issues, but they could have made a far greater total profit if they'd done larger mintages sold for realistic prices. They'll sell these out but when they could have minted and sold 50x or 100x or maybe 1,000x as many (of the silver ones, at least), they let an awful lot of potential income go unrealized. Since they're a govt business that exists to make a profit, I don't understand that.

To answer my own question from above, it looks like these will be the same diameter as a maple or wildlife series coin (38 mm), but 4.5 mm thick rather than 3.29 mm according to Silver Gold Bull. I like this design and appreciate Canada's commitment to recognizing its wildlife.
