I found these 2 1974 pennies in my change today & am wondering what the pennies would grade.

I'm more intrested in grading the US penny, but would take an opinion on what grade the Canadian penny is too...

Pretty nice pennies for a pocket find!

To the 1974, I call everything circulated AU-50 or worse unless it has only a scratch or two and just a few fingerprints. This one has some carbon spots (or gum?) and enough toning from finger oils that I can't call it anything better. I've been debating getting some high grade acetone and experimenting with coins like these to see if it would raise the grade without ruining the coin.

Thanks for the grading replies...

Im just shocked to find such perfect hair like that on a '74 penny.

BTW:
Do the #'s 9&7 look larger than the 1 &4, or is it just me?

I also notice somewhat of a 2nd ear on the '74 penny too, but I believe thats on the '84...

I'd call them both AU.
