Hopefully all had a good weekend, and a belated thanks to our Nations Veterans! 1909-VDB-Replacement-On-The-Way---What-Do-You-Think?-Ngc

About a month or so ago, I sold my 7070 VDB (and a few others) to acquire my first gold piece. I picked up it's replacment (below) and wanted to see what the CCF thought about in comparison to NGC.

Thanking you in advance!

oih82w8,

Here is my 1909 VDB. Probably. not as nice as yours but I'll live with it. If I remember correctly, mine was a MS64 and yours looks nicer. How about a MS66?

I will say MS-65 and from the pictures it looks like there is enough red left for the Red designation so 65Red

I'm gonna say MS 65RD...If the front was as nice as the back I would be at least 66

Tiny pictures, crop 'em next time, I see more holder than coin. Hard to grade from those but it looks to be 64/65RD.

That's weird, I did crop them at the house and they appear cropped on my Photobucket page. I will take some better (I hope) images when it arrives within the next few days. Until then, perhaps NGC was a little stingy with their assessment;

Speaking of weird, I noticed that my "new" (012) V.D.B. was submitted in the same order (not by me) as my "old" (004) V.D.B. to NGC. The submittal number is the same, just a few coins apart from each other, perhaps someone turned in a whole bunch/roll of them;

Looks like from the NGC website images that the "old" has a touch more red than the "new".

The TPG's are pretty hard on these as they are fairly common in 64 and below. Apparently they want the 65's to command a big premium.....follow the $$$.
