I've come across a 1956 Brandeis University commemorative medal (centennial medal). I've done some research and identified that 3000 pieces were struck in bronze and 20 in gold. These were US mint-struck medals authorized by an act of Congress.
A friend has asked for some help researching the gold medal, as he has one in his possession. It is not in any sort of official display box; just the medal. They seem rare. I've tracked one to the MFA Museum in Boston, one was given to the King of Denmark.
here is the bronze version:

If anyone can direct to any leading authority/collector/seller websites for medals issued by the US Mint it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
