Hi I work for a museum and we found a collection in our attic that is from a soldier who fought in the Spanish-American war and was killed in the Philippines in 1899. This coin was in his collection of personal effects. I have tried searching online and have been unable to find anything resembling it. Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
The front is almost entirely rubbed off. The back is stamped with P F 5 Cent.

A sutler token, perhaps?

Can't be much help but a moderator should move this to a more appropriate thread.

My guess would be a business or sutler token. Hard Times token?

The experts will be around soon enough.

Most likely a merchant token from the Gay Nineties. Many varieties exsist from the time of the "Splendid little war", and are sometimes very difficult to identify precisely. What city and state was the soldier from?

I was not able to find anything in my references. I would chalk this one up as a Maverick (unidentifiable) token. If Exoguy sees this he may have something to add.
