Don't forget about MC status. Many of those people who are MC status today will need to spend $1000/year to keep their status.

Being a master club member only benefits you by getting advanced notice of coins to be released. You can get that info on this forum. And master members get free shipping, which again is not that great if you can buy the same coin from Canada post or a coin shop. Also, if a specific Canada post location doesn't have what you are looking for but another one does, they will ship it there or to whatever location you want free of charge. Being a master club member can also get you a personal rep which has its benefits too. I don't know what criteria must be met to get a rep but I know some reps have offered special invitations and even free "gifts" to some members. These $5 and $10 coins are a rare occurrence being issued by RCM for (in most cases) less than the resell value. |

How come there's no love for the 1913 HS $5? 1912 $10 Hand-Selected had the least released, I think it was 1,600. 1913 $10 had over 7000 and 1914 had almost 14000 released. $5 Premium, most people like the 1914, but it had the most released 121 $5 Premium 1912 (62) & 1913 (45) released. In my opinion the 1912 $5 premium is the "rarest" unless someone wants to complete the 3 coin set as only 45 people can do that. This doesn't included the 140 6 coin sets. A lot of the 1913 Hand-selected coins should have been melted... the ones I have seen are poor quality, not to say they are all like that. ;) Edited by coin_games

So 1913 Premium select is the rarest and follow by 1912 premium hand selected. Am I right?

Keeping in mind the ones in red were estimates.
@ Lostwords yes for the premiums if based on "Hoard" release.
The overall mintage makes the 1914 $5 the most favourable.

Heres the thing with the 1914 $10 coins is that when they were first minted they held back most of them in the "hoard" to be melted because of the war which is why there are so many 1914 $10 coins (14,949) being released now. From what I understand there are /where alot more 1914 $10 coins in better condition then the other years because of this, so the real question is how many 1912, 1913 went out into circulation before 1914? Even though the 1912 $10 coin has a lower mintage does not mean there are less of them out there then the 1914.Maybe we will never really know  |

I think the Mint could not find enough 1912 $10 coins in high quality because many of them have been in circulation. That is why there are no 1912 $10 Premium coins. They are only found in the 6 coin premium sets.

Thats a nice coin from what I can see although lots of scratches .... Much tougher, is to find these coins with no scratch marks...as even uncirculated examples had contact with other coins resulting in some visible damage. There is a 6 coin set listed on kijiji (Toronto). The asking price is $16,500. I wonder how long the ad will be posted.

$16,500 isn't a huge markup when you consider you would have to pay HST on $12,000.

Taxes are based where you live. I'd bet the seller didn't pay too much. Either way, he's getting a couple grand at least.
