here is the url for the PCGS POP report for the 5.00 gold reserve coin

goldhttp://www.pcgs.com/pop/detail.aspx?c=4421&t

you will note there are only 1866 AU-MS pieces ever graded
when I asked the mint rep about the dealer issue she laughed and assured me that the RCM shipped all the coins directly themselves

pcgs doesn't have a special gold reserve label that I can see from the ones on ebay claiming to be gold reserve examples

how do you tell the difference in their population report given above? which ones were gold reserve coins?

click on the PCGS # on the left, ie 32668....it expands into more detail, including a category called "gold reserve"

ok I just looked at the PCGS report above again and figured out how to read it..it does show a total of 463 5.00 gold reserve coins graded in MS

dealers have lots of cash and a direct route to PCGS

so what else is new?

maybe the RCM bowed to extreme pressure from insiders to release the secret old hoard..wish I was one of those insiders ...dont u? what a lot of fun to sift through a bunch of musty old bags full of gold gems and pick out the best ones I surmise it may have been a hastily planned show based on an impulsive decision to profit from the high bullion price and make a show of downplaying the value of gold by trading for worthless paper certificates all the revenue from the release......but they gave us a good deal so lets keep smiling as we count our blessings

So where are all these PCGS Gold Coins? No one has sold them on ebay or any coin shop in the North America. I do a daily internet search for these coins and don't see them anywhere.

We won't know for sure until we start certifying our coins. The more data we get, the more we'll see if a MS63 is the norm, or a MS65. Furthermore, if there is a bunch of front runners being graded, how come they aren't in the marketplace yet?

this url shows the PCGS 10.00 gold figures for MS

total gold reserve coins are 1056 pieces evenly distributed through the years like the 5,00 pieces

represents almost 50% of the total certified in 10.00

compared to the 25% of the total certified in 5.00

total certified to date in both 5 and 10 dolar is 1519 pieces

@tripoli

how come they aren't in the marketplace yet?

maybe PCGS delay shipping (back to coin owners) just like RCM?

I looked at the PCGS population report and nowhere does it meantion it is from the recent gold hoard sold by the Mint. These coins are likely from existing coins prior to the release of the newly discovered coins.

reading the PCGS population report is easy

on the far left of the graph is a red 5 digit number which when clicked on gives the breakdown on the gold reserve vs previous issue

i note that the gold reserve has produced no new MS65s in the five dollar 13/14 issue but a few in the 1912s and this indicates a trend which will be interesting to follow as more are submitted
it would appear the same trend applies for the 10.00 gold reserve issue which has produced 7 new ms 65s in 1912 but nothing in 13/14

unless pgcs made a clerical error, they clearly states boc hoard, my guess why none are in the marketplace yet, the owner has a deal with the RCM to wait for the RCM to shipp all their orders first or else this kind of news might cause massive cancellations.
