Oh, and the reason I took it out of the case is to see if I could get a better picture.

You definitely get better pictures with the coin out of the holder! Otherwise, you get reflections from the plastic and it's harder to get a sharp focus.

Your coin appears to grade AU-50 or so, maybe even a notch higher. It has quite a bit of luster. I would need larger, sharper photos to be more confident but I think I can see slight wear on the shield and breast (obverse) and the edge of the wing (reverse). I don't notice any obvious sign of improper cleaning. Looks like a nice one!

Nice coin! I would say about AU 53 but closer pics would help
