I thought I would ask some members with more expeirence with this type of coin to provide a guessamate or an idea what decade I should look into?

The jpeg may not be any clearer than the actual coin I can read the century 18 next numbers a appears as small circle below and 'fudged' rest of the number upper. The last number appears to be a 5 or 3.

Question: Based on the portrait and location of date, what era would this coin most likely be?

It is a copper farthing dated between 1838 and 1860.

Very likely to be 1853 - that's the commonest date
