New-Scythian

New-Scythian

Scythian Kings, Vonones and Spalahores with Spalagadames, AE Hemiobol, c.75-65 BC, Kandahar

King on horseback right within beaded frame

Hercules seated left on rock, club in right hand, left hand resting on rock, with linear frame.

WEIGHT=6.7grams DIAMETER=22.8mm x 23.0mm

I didn't understant the kings thing, so here wikipedia..

Quote:
Spalagadames was an Indo-Scythian ruler, son of Spalahores, himself brother of king Vonones. He ruled in areas of the North-western South Asia between around 50 BCE.

Spalagadames was mentioned on coins in the name of king Vonones, as the son of Spalahores, and later on coin of Spalirises as king, where he is again introduced as the son of Spalahores.

Very interesting coin...I love these square coins. In my opinion the Hercules looks great. He is clearly visible. That is not a light coin either, rather chunky, eh?
