I have always had a fond place in my collection for honestly circulated coins ... alas have very few Classic to contribute ... Looking forward to all the great coins. Wondering if I can contribute photos from my circulated silver commemorative set .. 1893-1946? David

There will be some awesome coins in this thread. VG-VF circulated coins make a great looking set. One of my favorites is a Morgan dollar date set in the VF range. I put these together with all "P" mints whenever I can get the tough ones, 95 excluded of course. Why that hole is in the slot is beyond me.

Moe, are you going to start a new thread on the 3rd, or do you want to make this one official?

I like this idea and have a few of my oldies but goodies to contribute. Question: I've never seen a VG-7 or VG-9 TPG coin. Obviously that will be a subjective choice even if it is slabbed...correct?

Can we post "cleaned" coins which fit the grade but are guilty of terrible eye appeal? I have sold for melt much of the junk that I had, but I still have a few for study. Barbers, if you needed to ask! Yes, Moe, I shall not let the 25 days of Barber coins die. Much too important for me.

Nice idea for us poor, blind (just kidding) and lousy or new to learning grades, people. ( Let me wipe off my glasses to see if I typed this in right!) And get my "David Bowers" out and my saved bookmark of PCGS photo guide and ......... what else? All those bookmarks on grading. Thanks Moe!

Quote:Question: I've never seen a VG-7 or VG-9 TPG coin. Obviously that will be a subjective choice even if it is slabbed...correct? I understand. I have seen (rarely) grades between the normal AG-3, G-4, G-6, VG-8 VG-10, F-12, etc, so I know they exist. But, like I said, they're rare and probably lately rarer still than they used to be. I realize my parameters for this thread make posting a little awkward. But, we needed a countdown for the 10 Days. Quote: Obviously that will be a subjective choice even if it is slabbed...correct? My purpose of this thread is to try to have equally graded coins on the same day. If you have a low-end VG-10 that you feel just made it, but may be more like a VG-9, that's what I'm looking for you to post on VG-9 day. If you have a VG-8 that you feel should have been higher, post it on the VG-9 or even VG-10 day. I trust your judgement! The point is, try to be as close as you can (if you were a TPG grader) to the grade of the day. (And if you post a coin that's a bit off pararmeters, I probably won't ask the mods to delete it.)

Horray for that decision ... I will be thrilled to share about 20 coins from the tremendous classic USA silver commemorative series in these grades. Tremendous coins ... some mind-blowing examples of 'how did that valuable coin get so worn out". I'm making a list and prepping my photos ... looking forward to 12/03 and VG10 day. David
