Dave, this is hilarious!!! It should read "miniature Grand Canyon/ Canals of Mars re-located to obverse of this Bust Half" This one is "priceless"! (no pun intended)Thanks for the chuckle. Could this be an April Fool's Day listing? Mike

If that's a small scratch what would a big one look like?

Well it is true that the scratch will not endanger the structural integrety of the coin
In other words it is not in danger of breaking in two

A scratch like this on a gold ecu probably would endanger it to fold back on itself

I think I might know what is going on. The seller might be a expert on using microscope to examine the coins. Under 8x microscope, the canals are so wide that the two edges can not be seen under one view. The seller might think the canals are the intrinsic design of the coins, what a beautiful design.

He should have used the word scratches, not scratch. Is it me, or do I see three scratches on the obverse. I agree with Mike, Grand Canyon best describes the coin.
