No, it is made of two different metals. The outer ring is nickel while the core is aluminum-bronze. Bronze is susceptible to corrosion and that is what you have there. It is not rust since there is no iron or steel involved. Report this Post to the Staff
t_y Pillar of the Community Canada 632 Posts	Posted 12/04/2012 5:00 pm A quick correction. I always thought the core was aluminum-bronze (according to the Mint specs) but it is not! After XRF I learned it is just normal brass. Report this Post to the Staff
