11/27 43 BC Second Triumvirate receives vast powers via the passing of the Les Titia law. The Second Triumvirate is the name historians give to the official political alliance of Octavian, Marcus Aemilius Lepidus, and Mark Antony. The Triumvirate existed for two five-year terms, covering the period 43 BC â€" 33 BC . -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11/28 306 AD Maxentius rebels against Severus II and assumes title of Caesar. Although two sons of emperors were available, Constantine and Maxentius, they were passed over for the new tetrarchy, and Severus and Maximinus Daia were appointed Caesars. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/01 47 AD Marcus Aurelius takes tribunician powers for the first time. Marcus refused to take office unless Lucius received equal powers. The senate accepted, granting Lucius the imperium, the tribunician power, and the name Augustus. Marcus became, in official titulature, Imperator Caesar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus and it was the first time that Rome was ruled by two emperors.

Thanks, but I've been mostly in bed for the past week. Perhaps somewhat better today. I can only hope. This cough is a killer!

Two for the price of one. On the 200th anniversary of Actium, Aurelius and Verus reissued Antony's legionary type.

Maxentius as Caesar.... The only bronze issue to carry the title Caesar for Maxentius. A very short lived issue and relatively scarce. (I know I shared it recetly but it is historically relevant here.) Martin
