68 D Error? - Coin Community Forum

TXTim New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 04/02/2007 12:44 pm This half has a diamond grid stamped on the reverse. A coin shop guy told me it was a possible waffle error - I have no idea what that is. Another forum thought it was a stamp through error. the rim is higher and sharp. Any ideas? It is like a wire mesh was pushed into the coin - it is grooved in a diamond pattern - also has a lot of small "pinprick" areas dappled all over it. Report this Post to the Staff
biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 04/02/2007 4:21 pm I dont think anything is wrong with the coin itself- it appears to have been glued to a textured surface which left the grid impression. The raised parts are the glue residue and the "pinpricks" I believe were air bubbles left as the glue dried. Notice that the raised areas have an unnatural yellowish-green tint.
