Curious if anyone here has or is buying copper pennies? I know the copper hoarding thread has many posts with posters stating that people are buying on the bay and such, but is anyone here actually buying too? Canadian or American?

In my opinion, there is no benefit at this time to buying copper pennies.

Searching them on your own gives you the opportunity to find numismatic golden treasures like Indian Head and Wheat pennies.

Banks have also been very accommodating to me, stocking extra boxes of pennies.

Nobody buys UK pennies - they had a big spike in copper prices and many many many got melted - they are a lot rarer now. But I suppose we dont even have variety in ours - 2 busts, 2 obverses.

I just pick them out of my change and throw them in a big jar, mostly out of habit.

Silver stacking is challenging enough when it comes to finding adequate storage. Aside from picking out any collectible pennies I come across, I don't see me getting serious about Cu any time soon.

I agree with everyone else no need to go out of your way to buy them. Likely they will never be legal to melt and you can find them at face value from banks sorting pennies. I wouldnt recommend roll searching if thats all you want unless you find it fun, but I roll search for a lincoln album anyway so I save the coppers and sell them on ebay when I have enough

Ya I didn't think many would be. Been tossing around to bother throwing rolls up on ebay or not. I Have about $300FV of copper Canadian pennies, 1 box of American coppers that I have found and have put together 3 rolls of wheats. Been thinking of trying to sell, but not sure if the market is there yet.

Like Steele, I buy them from the bank for 1 cent each, and have been saving them as I roll search. I will sell one day, but won't be a buyer above face value.
