Hi, I have this US-Philippines 1/2c Error. It seems its a Full Repunched with 2nd strike rotated clockwise 230+- degree and a Full Repunched with 2nd strike rotated clockwise 230+- Degree. Am I correct? Or Its a DDO and DDR Rotated 2nd strike clockwise 230+- degree? Can anyone tell me the value of this kind of Error. I think this is very RARE. Below is the actual coin. Thanks

You are correct. This is not a die variety ( DDO or DDR), but a striking error known as double struck rotated in collar. I would agree that this is extremely rare. I've never seen one like it. It was minted in Philadelphia and has quite the following, so it should command a very nice premium. This is a very exciting error! Did you discover it, or purchase it as an error?

I purchased it in lot and just found out today as I check each coin. What do you think the approximate price if put in Auction? By the way, I will send this to PCGS next week for authentication. Thanks

I think authentication from pcgs or ngc will definitely help maximize its value. Best way to sell it imo, would be through a well described/pictured ebay auction or an error dealer. Best of luck with the piece!

I have no clue as to the value. I did a quick search but didn't find anything comparable. There are a few foreign error coin experts over at the error coin information exchange that could probably help you out in this regard if you post it over there.

That is a nice in-collar rotated double strike you have there...

I have a somewhat large USA & World error coin collection and have spent the last week or so separating all the multi-strike coins that were struck at least 2 times for threads in both the USA forum and World error coin forum...

I should have this thread ready in the next 2 days and will be requesting anyone with multi-struck coins to post them in the thread as I would love to see what other collectors have...

I am requesting only multi-strikes and not over-dates, re-punched dates/letters, single strike off centers, or other types of errors as I (or another member) can start another thread for other errors...

I am hoping this works out for the long term, and between both the USA & World threads, I'm guessing there has to be over 300 photos...

Your coin would look great in the thread, and anyone that wants to use one of my photos for their CCF Avatar has my permission to use them...

Looking forward to viewing other multi-strikes...

With a unique error like this, and a $1,000.00 offer out of nowhere, if you really want to sell this coin, I would consider placing this on a on-line auction (not ebay) for more exposure and most likely higher money... If you go this route, contact the person that emailed you and email him/her the auction info (I'm sure they would bid in the auction).

[my opinion only]

Good Luck

Nice! If you entertain this offer, just be wary of payment scams going on out there--by check, Western Union, etc.
