This is a South Africa R2.00 (Rand) coin. I think it is called a "clamshell" or "split planchet error" coin. I am trying to find out if there is a value attached to such a mint error. I have a letter from the SA Mint to say it is manufactured by them.
yes, it's a clamshell split planchet error. Usually these sell around about $10-$40, sometimes more. It's a wide range. Being that this coin is foreign, it might sell on the lower side. that just seems to be the trend.
Should you want to sell this coin, your best option would be to list it on ebay under "World Errors" with shipping "World Wide" as this would post your coin all ALL the ebay Global Sites...
