My Grandpa was really into coins and I have a ton to post with questions but for now ill start with his Kennedy's.. I'm fairly new to collecting. I used to help my grandpa go through his coins when I was little and although a lot of the coins show Quite a bit of damage it's the sentimental value that I like most of all.. Ok first question do all the Kennedy's from the era coins in my picture all have strong indentions on the reverse side And the face almost looks like there is a second face on it? All 5 of these have that and the 1977 is the most obvious in this picture and stands out the most among them. Is this a normal coin or something different? And is the little chunk missing on the 1973 from Someone breaking it? The 1969 the coloration is quite different from the others and almost has a yellowish/goldish sheen to it and not sure why? Any help or answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you -Slade-

Welcome to the Forum!
There are several possibilities for the things your asking about and we would need to see close up pictures of the areas on the coins you are discussing. But in regards to the yellowish sheen on the 1969, its likely just the silver in the coin starting to tone. Half dollars made prior to 1965 are 90% silver and half dollars made from 1965 to 1970 are 40% silver. The vast majority of half dollars produced after 1970 are copper-nickel, though there are special S-mint marked silver proofs made from the 1990's as well as a couple of silver commemorative issues, ect.

Yep, the 69 looks different because of the silver content.
You also have a nice clip on the coin in the bottom row.

I think you may be referring to the cartwheelish luster in the coins that look like double profiles. It's a nice looking feature in my opinion.
