Dave42 Pillar of the Community United States 571 Posts	Posted 12/02/2012 10:35 pm Discoloration due to some sort of environmental exposure. It can happed to one or both sides depending what it was. My sister gave me a dime that was totally copper colored, thinking it was an error. After checking the weight and specific gravity, I determined it was just a stained coin, and proved it with a dremel tool with a polishing head. Took the stain off, just a normal dime underneath.
