Hi ,it's an anonimous roman republican denarius. If possible it's better know weight to prove autenticity, however it seems genuine to my eyes. On the rverse maybe is present a countermark?

Don't know if it's just the photo but I think I can see a casting seem from here (top reverse)

As giano said, it's a denarius of the Roman Republic, but as Dionysos says, it does look like a seam around the edge. Please take a pic of the edge. It might just be the way the image looks. Also weight and measurement would be helpful.

I think it's the light's angle in the pic.....

I see Dionysos has found it in the fakes reports. That settles that.

at this point no doubt is a fake, the same hole on the reverse. However I think it's well done and as usually better have coin in hand to see the edge.

Thanks for the quick reply! I'll take a couple more shots and see what everyone comes back with. I don't have a proper scale for measurement. Again, thank you

Take a look at the edge. If you see what would appear as a seam, then there is no need for weight and measurement. The seam would make it proof positive it is fake.

The exact same reverse details and flan defect to the one posted by Dionysos--it's pretty much certain to be that fake.

I'm assuming seam based on pics. Thank you again for sharing your insight!

For many years I was a banker and have collected silver coins, certificates and the occasional messed up american dollar but I thought it quite strange to find at the bottom of a coin jar. Especially the laundry coin bucket! Thanks again all!

well, I agree, that is still a very interesting thing to find in the laundry coin jar!
