New guy here

I am new to the mint error searching of various types. I came across a couple of these recently. Are these considered die cracks? I actually have one that has the shown obverse and reverse cracks on the same coin.

Thanks!

Yes those are Die Cracks. Those are pretty big too. I don't think I have seen them that big on any 2012 cents yet. I personally do not collect them but some people might. I just did a quick check on ebay. There are alot of Die Cracks listed but none of them have any bids.

Hope that helps. Happy Hunting....oh...and to the forum

Thanks for the reply. I will take a look at ebay. I was doing some penny roll searching and bought a box of pennies from the bank and got them home and found a box of 2012s. Not what I was expecting for roll hunting I decided to search through them to see if I could find any error coins and ran across a few of the ones pictured. Some with the crack on the obverse, some with the crack on the reverse, and some with the cracks on both sides.

Good eye and observation. Not much value I believe but, you are now "in the hunt." Good luck.

Thanks - Its much easier to see the variations when you are looking through 2500 of the same minted coin!!!

Did you find any duplicate coins with the crack in the same place? In other words from the same cracked die? It could be possible since these coins just came from the mint and have not been circulated yet.

Absolutely - I have a pile of them from my box. Probably about 30 or so from the 1500.
