I believe this is a Reader's Digest fabrication. The originals issued had "COPY" stamped in incuse letters under the horses. They turn up often; I have one, in fact.
On my fake page I called this the most commonly seen fake and I'll stand by that label. The maker had no intention of cheating people but enough people decided to remove the word copy and try to make a dishonest buck that it makes me think this is also the most injurious to the hobby fake. I wonder how many victims of these very obvious fakes decide from that one experience that ancients are too complicated and people who sell them are crooks? The coin that this copies is now hard to find under $1000 but it is a beautiful type that I wish I had.
