While browsing PCGS value charts I noticed on some coins the PO01 grade values were higher than the next few grades in some cases. Then I saw the occasional comment on this forum about collectors who seek out these Poor coins.

In going through our Lib HDs last night I think I found a good one. Looks pretty poor, er, 'experienced' to me Per PCGS its value is greater than the next three grades.

I kinda like these poor coins. Might be a something I'd like to collect.

I saw some V nickels yesterdy that were so worn out that the liberty side was totally blank, and all you could make out on the reverse was the "V" with just narry a hint of the lettering that surrounds it.

Yes, VERY experienced! I think it needs to be posted on The 10 Days of Diminishing Grades thread, https://goccf.com/t/134810

Also, there are collectors who put together low-ball sets. They may pick a low grade or go for the most worn specimen that can be attributed. May be something you want to consider...

Any chance it could be a CC or S (or I guess you would be able to see part of it)?

A true "poor" coin, what are the chances there is a cc mint mark worn away?

That is the announcement thread, where is the actual thread? is everyone going to just post in the announcement thread or if there supposed to be an actual thread like there always are?

Edit: Nevermind, I guess I should have clicked through the last pages to see the pictures that were already posted, I believe this was a bad way to do it but since it has already started, oh well

JerseyBen, believe me I tried very hard to make a mint mark magically appear, lol. At first I thought there was an O, looks like one, but it's a bit too far to the right.

Hey wait, could vague mark be part of a CC? The second C might be that far over. I'll look again when I get home but it's probably wishful thinking.

I've never really understood low-ball sets, but I have to give it to the builders of such sets and their determination to find low-ball examples of moderns such as State Quarters and then submit them for grading hoping to get the coveted P01 designation.
