A coworker gave it to me suggesting it was a coin from Jerusalem. The text doesn't look Hebrew to me however.

Here are the pics:

Any ideas?

It is a modern reproduction of the biblical "Widow's Mite".

It's a modern mass-produced machine-struck replica of a Widow's Mite, an ancient Jewish coin. They seem to be cropping up on the forum fairly often these days; here's one recent thread, which has links to earlier threads.

The text on genuine Widows Mites is Greek, not Hebrew. The text on these copies is somewhat degraded Greek, but you can still make out "BAS" from basileos, the Greek word for "king".
