I also posted this question over in the modern coin forum but thought I'd put it here for those interested in the older stuff.

As I wrote in that post, my tastes have changed now that I am 40+. I used to really like Buffalo nickels but now I like older coins, large cents, for example.

What are you younger guys collecting these days?

I am 27 but have been actively collecting for 17 years.

When I started, my main interest was the Classic U.S. coins.

However, lately I have found myself wanting to acquire more Ancients.

I think it is the history behind 2000 year old coins and wondering just what they have seen over the centuries.

I hope this helps!

I am 15 and just started collecting about 4-5 months ago. What got me really into it was a 1969 Half Dollar and some old $2 bills. I found these when cleaning a crawlspace and the lady told me to keep them. Now I am pretty much into anything coin related, because I say that you never know who's hands some coin or bill could have been in.

I'm 26 and have been with coins on and off for about 14 years. I prefer pre-1965 coins but will save anything that catches my eye.

I`m 15 and have collected coins for 8 to 9 years, although most of those years I collected out of pocket change.
I started seriously collecting when I got handed a Morgan dollar in change in March, and soon after joined CCF (after I got my new computer as the signup part of CCF was blocked at school and both of my home computers had broken down).

Now I collect anything I feel like, but I am trying to focus on US, British and Ancient coins. I like to have visible differences in the coins I have, as it is much easier for me to show to others (that and I haven`t got a good loupe)

I am 17 and have been collecting seriously for 4 years now and when I started it was just anything that caught my eye but now I've started collecting Barber dimes and am almost done with the series!! But besides barbers I'm really big into small size paper money like nationals and Hawaii and North Africa notes. But I have collected a wide assortment of things like gold coins (I bought them not inherited) $1, $2.5, and $5 gold coins and some Morgan's and a bunch of others but mainly classic US coins and paper money

Wow... all these rich fellas... I, like you Johnny, liked buffalos because they weren't too expensive. Then when I coin roll hunted wheats were a big thing, and some silver dimes. If there is anyone young out there who doesn't have much money, I'd be guessing they were in the same boat as me.
