Some of my oldest us copper. I haven't spent very much time trying to determine varieties though the 1802 I believe is s-226 or 227 but I'm lost when it comes to differentiating between the two.

The 1802 looks like S-226 to me based on the break below the date and the position of reverse PHL just left center of the S. The die marriage is 1-B. S227 uses obverse 3.

Very nice the 1802 has a lot of detail left although it looks like it was spay painted or something?

I don't think I've ever seen a "shadow" 4 next to (left and inside of) the 4 on the date of an 1804 Half Cent...

NICE!

Does anyone know more about this error?

Thanks cipster, I believe you're correct after looking into it some more.

@Voshus007 it definitely the nicer one of the bunch. Not sure about spray paint but it has some unusual staining going on.

Good eye moe, I didn't even notice that. I had to go look at the coin again and you can see it but it's a lot more subtle to the naked eye than in the picture.

The 1804 looks like a straight-up Cohen-13, with plain 4 and stemless wreath. Don't believe that variety has any double-punched 4. Is this just an optical illusion?

That's what I was thinking when it was pointed out. After looking at it again there does appear to be something that looks like it could be a 4 but I think you're probably right. Maybe I'll take some close ups for fun a little later.

1802 is 226 as mentioned the Cud below 802 confirms it. Both 226 and 227 share the same rev, the incomplete loops of bow rev.

1803 looks like S-250

Half Cents

1804 plain 4 stemless has to be C-13

1805 is medium 5 stemless C-1
