If too many ppl know about other people's favourite places, the coins won't stay cheap much longer...
That's why you're never supposed to post a link to an auction before it has ended.

I don't use websites for higher valued coins. I like to see them in hand first, before making a decision to buy or bid. My rule for myself would not apply to others for mint packaged NCLT or bullion.

John1, I was looking at cheapslabs.com. Just curious: They have a PCGS MS64 1879-S Morgan for $105.00. I picked up this coin at my local coin shop for $80.00 back in April. Have prices gone up or is there just no substitute for a good coin shop?

Quote: Have prices gone up or is there just no substitute for a good coin shop? I don't know. How does the coin at cheapslabs compare to the one you got from the shop? Everyone can ask whatever price they want to I guess, according to Numismedia.com a MS64 Morgan is valued at $91.Shop around is my best advice. John1

Yeah, I checked Numismedia after I posted. I get nice coins at my coin shop. I'm lucky with one of the workers there and he's a Morgan collector; knows them well. Turns out we knew each years back.

That is an interesting question. Many times low price and high quality do not go hand-in-hand. Other times, however, one is fortunate to find this combination. I cannot think of anywhere that would universally fit your desired parameters.

You're right, Tom: high quality and lower-end prices don't always go hand in hand. But I feel good about the Morgans I buy. I see many, many coins that don't deserve the grade they're given, not to my liking anyway. I feel fortunate that I can pick among what my dealer has. And he's always telling me not to try and outgrade the graders. When I do buy a coin that I don't like once I get home, I return it for another. No problem.

Quote: Have prices gone up or is there just no substitute for a good coin shop? Agreed with everyone else and shop around. In terms of where will be cheapest it all depends on what it is and whats in your area. Sometimes things are cheaper at a shop, sometimes theyre cheaper online.

I agree, sometimes it is cheaper to just to go to a shop, sometimes online.
