I just got my first proof sets from my mentor as an early Christmas gift. They are his birthday (1984) and mine (1997). Just wanted to share this as they are my first proofs.

I remember (and still have) my first proof set 1968 given to me by my mother and helped start a lifetime affection to coin collecting. Congratulations and merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you to. I know that many people would have, so that is why I joined this program called Starfish Initiative and it is wonderful. My mentor and I talk about what college is like, how to prepare for it, and pretty much anything. I mean he is more like a friend then a mentor. Thanks everyone.

One of the first things I did when upgraded myself to "coin collector" (not just a silver/LWC saver) was to buy a 1966 Canada Prooflike Set, so I could have a nice birth-year Set with a majority of majority-silver  coins (not just an SMS Set with one 40% silver JFK). I also have a 1966 Australia decimal Set with the famous 1966 round silver 50-Cent.  This year, I'm giving two (silver) Proof Sets for Christmas as birth-year gifts, 1963 and 2010. |
