Hi all,

I'm sure you get questions like this all the time and I've really tried to research and figure this out on my own, but I'm just getting nowhere.

I just got this in an auction lot and am assuming it to be a reproduction. It has a 14k gold mounting. I'm having

Help-Identifying-Spanish-Silver-Coin?-Real?

Help-Identifying-Spanish-Silver-Coin?-Real? trouble figuring out what kind of coin it is. All I can gather is that it is supposed to be from the time of Phillip V? It measures approx. 1 1/8" across.

Any help or input is greatly appreciated.

This is a reproduction of a 8 escudos coins (should be in gold) minted under the reign of Felipe V in Mexico (the design of the cross is particular to Mexico)

Thanks for your reply! I think that must be the source of my confusion, the fact that it should be gold. I guess the value here is in the mounting only?

Thanks again!

Yes, the mounting, and the center if it's at least silver :)
