Just wonder what you all think about the future value of the Statehood Quarter proof sets.

Got carried away with these just bought three more complete sets from 1999 to 2006.

I will have about five complete sets of all silver and clad.

Plan to keep these to pass onto the grandkids that one is only one month old and the other is still four months away we hope as our daughter lost one already around six months.

Anyway I think they will be worth more in 20 years even though I have paid the low and high Red Book values for some.

I have some years that I ave extra sets should I sell or just keep them to?

What do you think?

Brucec.
I believe your idea of saving your silver and clad sets of Statehood Quarters for your grandchildren is a good thing to do. Any time we can leave a piece of history for our future generations that is a commendable to do. As for there value years from now only time will tell it is my opinion that any time we are able to purchase silver of any kind we should buy as much as we can afford.

The other Bruce.

Bruce IMHO you're doing a great thing! We can't predict what the value will be (darn!) May not change at all! But - what a wonderful thing to share with your grandchildren - the knowledge and joy of collecting. I have 2 grandchildren - showed them some coins and then suggested they think about something they'd like to collect (which would also be something for me to give as gifts for holidays). My grandson chose coins ( State Quarters and silver eagles); my granddaughter chose dolls. They both understand these aren't too play with or spend but for the future. I just got tired of the amount I was spending on 'disposable' gifts and thought it would be better (IF the kids agreed and chose something) to invest in building collections. Hopefully the kids will want to keep the collections. As far as your 'extras' if it were me I'd keep (or consider trading to convert to another type of collection.)

I think you are doing a very cool thing for your grandkids. My opinion is they are going to go up, more than others, but are a good investment, but most of all a good piece of history.
