I went to a local bank to get a roll of Presidential dollar coins. I was told that because I am not a member of the bank, that I was limited to 10 coins. Is this a common practice for banks? I would go to my bank, but my work schedule conflicts with their hours.

Each bank is likely to set their own policies on such things. At my own bank they limited me to a single roll, since they said many other customers were interested in them and that they only ordered a single box. I simply went to another branch of my bank and got another roll. Then I went to a different bank and got two rolls from them. You just have to hunt around -- but hunting is one of the most fun parts of collecting, so enjoy it.

My bank has a policy that they will only give out 2 rolls per costumer. that way they have enought for everyone. I beleave they only had got a few boxes since think they might be out. but like Edix said all bank will have there own policy I do no that some bank will not sell you mulitiple rolls of half dollar unless you are a member. So you might just need to look around your area and I am sure you will find one bank that will sell you a roll. or you could call around and see who has them and there policy on if no members can get rolls.

Thanks for the help! I will check some other banks. It will be nice to find one that offers at leat a full roll. The 10 that I purchased already had a a few contact marks from being handled at the bank.

Once you find your roll(s), the quality of the coins inside may well not be so high. That was the case in the five rolls that I've been through.

My banks are trying to get rid of them. I guess they ordered to many. But I have heard that some banks are putting a limit, even heard from one person that one bank limited only two per person. Phoenix

the bank that I work for we didn't limit how many rolls our customers got, but we did not give any away to non customers. We wanted to make sure our own customers got what they wanted rather than not having enough for customers because non customers got them.

This is a common practice at most financial institutions.
