Tim I have the 2006-w, however I saw an add that said 2007-w on sale in April so does that mean we will have a 2007-s proof and a 2007-w also this year I already have a 2007 silver eagle so are we going to have three this year?

From the information that I have been told the mint will now be release 3 ASE a year. The will consist of a proof coin, a coin with the W mint mark like the 2006-w and the normal uncirculated release.

The 2007 ASE Proof coins already distributed are minted at West Point with a "W" mint mark. I think the selling price was $29.95 and it is a beautiful coin. However, if you have to buy three different coins for a set this year, that can get a little "pricey:..... Berry

However there was no 2005-w minted right it started in 2006 ? BRUCE 1947 Which coin are your questioning? There was a 2005-W ASE Proof with the "W" mint mark. The 2005 ASE BU did not have a W mint mark. Berry

From 2001-2006, all business strikes and proofs were minted in West Point. Only the proofs have the W mint mark. The business strikes do not have a mint mark. In 2000, the business strikes were minted in West Point without a mint mark, but the proofs were minted in Philadelphia and have a P mint mark. Prior to that, the only ASE that was minted at West Point was the 1995 proof with a mintage of only 30,125, which is why that issue is so valuable.

According to the Red Book, there shouldn't be a W mint mark on the 2006 business strikes. According to the picture above, though, there is a mint mark. I guess the Red Book was wrong.
