12/11 361 AD Julian II arrives at Constantinople to begin his reign, intent on winning eastern allegiance. It was not strange to see Julian in the city, active in the Senate and participating in debates and making speeches, placing himself at the level of the other members of the Senate. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/15 37 AD Nero (Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus) born at Antium. He was adopted by Claudius in AD 50 as official heir to the throne. He was guided by his tutor, Seneca, and by Agrippina, his mother until he murdered her and broke free of his advisers. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/15 130 AD Lucius Verus (Lucius Ceionius Commodus) born in Rome. He received careful education from the famous "grammaticus" Marcus Cornelius Fronto and he is known to have been an excellent student. He started his political career as a quaestor in 153, became consul in 154, and in 161 was consul again with Marcus Aurelius as his senior partner.

By the way => I'm gonna go wrap your NFL gift (again => congrats!!) For anybody else who didn't hear => Bing won the NFL pool this year (approxiamtely 30 miscellaneous coins will be heading his way, shortly) .... sadly, probably not too many ancient coins!! *sigh* => but coins are coins! (they're like prison smokes => you can always trade them for something else!!)

Bing and the rest of our neighbors: Thanks for the great story of dastardly deeds and related coins. Every coin shown was my favorite. I'm so hooked and in so much trouble. My house is about to be overrun by ancient coins and all the paraphernalia from cleaning supplies to research manuals and many, many other things. Life is good.
