Just noticed that the mint has added information about the availability of coins on the product pages. You can see if an item is in stock or not at each of Ottawa, Vancouver and Winnipeg. Neat feature if it worked but given how bad the order tracking is, I'm sceptical. Apparently, there are 5 Penny sets in Ottawa.

Unfortunately that doesn't help anyone that doesn't live in those 3 cities. Now if the post offices could come up with that system....... Oh what a dream...

And even then. I live in one of those three cities and it doesn't help me at all. I'm not going to drive 20-30 minutes across town, fight traffic and pay to park to go to the boutique in hopes that their system is right or someone didn't get there before me. I really wish the RCM had used their time to improve the tracking system rather than adding an essentially useless feature. edit to add: How much sense does it make that an item (5 penny set) is 'sold out' yet is 'low stock' at the Ottawa boutique? Or that another item (the Rose-breasted Grosbeak) is in stock in all three boutiques but people have been waiting 8 months for website orders?!

Both grosbeaks are at the boutique. No penny sets since weeks ago. Don't know why the website says otherwise.

It doesn't have to work, it's the idea that counts.

Yes, it's the idea that counts. Thank Lithanial for pointing that out.
The bureaucracy in this country is astounding.

Good idea. If will be developed - could be useful for those who lives in the cities.
But afraid that the indicator will not reflect the current stock and will not be updated.

Thanks CC-Ottawa. This is most useful information. My only quibble is the feature doesn't work for all listed items. On many, it works just fine if you click "check stock", but for some nothing happens. After failing, I tried another that did work, then went back to one that failed before and it failed again. At least the failure rate was consistent! Oh, well, we can hope it will improve as they address the problems.
